Waterloo Historical Village - New Jersey

Description
Waterloo Historical Village, Stanhope, N.J.
Originally Waterloo was an ancient meeting place and burial ground for the Munsee tribe. By 1763, after the discovery of rich veins of iron nearby, a forge, grist mill and sawmill were constructed. In 1778, the Continental Congress ordered the Andover Ironworks confiscated to supply iron, steel and armaments for the American army. After the war, boom times came with the opening of Morris Canal between Phillipsburg and Newark in 1831.
